ROYAL DERBY HOSPITAL
Christmas Initiative
2022
Back in Christmas 2021, Layla, daughter of club founder was admitted to the Royal Derby Children's ICU with Covid-19, Layla spent the whole festive period in hospital which as you can imagine was a tough time. On Christmas day the Play Team brought the children gifts, which really helped, the gifts where donated by members of the public as well as businesses, I was taken back by the generosity and pledged to do the same the following Christmas.
So SEN United along with St Andrews Academy got together to acquire as many gifts for the children to open this Christmas, the response was amazing and on the 19th December, SEN United manager David, Captain Ben, St Andrews Representatives along with The Hoy Class took the gifts to Vicky and the Play Team. It was such a success SEN United will be looking to do the same next year.
We can't thank everyone who donated a gift(s) enough, this will make a massive difference as we can testify.

As I have said, we absolutely couldn't have pulled this off without you all.
We had family, friends, colleagues and new friends all come together to create what was a truly special day.

Steven Taylor's Marathon for St Giles SEND School
Cheque Presentation
A Rolls-Royce worker who smashed his fundraising target for a Derby special school by completing his first-ever marathon has set his sights on raising more funds for them.
Steven Taylor surpassed his initial target of £400 months before taking part in the Chester Marathon; 26-plus miles of winding roads which pass through all of Chester’s iconic landmarks before heading out into the Cheshire and North Wales countryside and returning along the banks of the River Dee.
His final total was an impressive £970 for St Giles School, in Hampshire Road.
Spurred on by this accomplishment, Steven is now planning more events which will raise funds for the city’s only special primary school.
“This was the first time I had ever done a marathon and I really wanted to push myself,” said Steven, who works as a Fleet Maintenance Planner at Rolls-Royce’s Aircraft Availability Centre in Derby.
